After winning title, here is Mourinho’s main problem ahead

Jose Mourinho believes it will be a tough task to improve his squad of champions this summer.

Chelsea boss Mourinho admits he is aiming to bring up to three new faces to Stamford Bridge during the close season.

But he reckons he already has the best “big name” players he can get because his team won the Premier League.

So keeping together the group of players who ended Chelsea’s five-year wait for a title is Mourinho’s main concern this summer.

The Blues are continuing their title celebrations with a two stop post-season tour of Thailand and Australia.

Ahead of Saturday’s game with a Thailand All-Stars side Mourinho said: “How can I find a better striker than Diego Costa? A better midfielder than Matic? A better right-back than Ivanovic?'

“If you come to a champion team you are not a big name. The big names are the champions.

“Our squad this season was very good. We didn't have many injuries. We had three players play 38 matches of the Premier League.

“I have a very good situation for myself, I like the club and players I work with.

“I don’t need to motivate them because they motivate each other. I can try to give them a push but they also push me. We win together and lose together.

“At this moment everybody is happy at the club. I’m happy with the players and I believe the players are happy with me.

“The fans are happy with all of us, so after the end of an amazing team Chelsea had for a decade, we start building a new team for the next decade, and this season was the beginning of that with one cup (the Capital One Cup) and the Premier League.

“Two or three are always coming to the club, that's normal.

“(But) the players I am looking for are my players, the players I want to keep. Last season I had players I wanted to sell.

“The most important thing in the market is not to lose players.”

Mourinho is bracing himself for the response from Chelsea’s rivals, in the transfer market and on the pitch, and he expects them all to be fired up after his side’s title cruise this season.
