Kenyan Premier League Player of the Year and best midfielder Anthony Ekaliani Ndolo expects a tough match against visiting Zimbabwean side FC Platinum in today’s first leg tie of the CAF Confederations Cup, at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Unlike Batoto Ba Mungu, who recently lost 2-1 to Gor Mahia in DSTV Super Cup, the Miners from Zimbabwe have had an impressive preseason beating Bantu Rovers 2-1 and drawing against Chapungu and Highlanders (1-1) in their three friendly matches.

However, the utility player has urged his teammates to put the loss against Gor behind them and face the next challenge.

“We lost to Gor because we played cautiously trying to avoid injuries. But that’s now behind us and we must give our best and ensure we get good results at home. I know it’ll not be an easy match but we are determined to do well,” said Ndolo.

His teammate Abdoul Razak said: “We believe in ourselves and everybody is aware of what lies ahead of us. Platinum is a strong team, but today’s match will be like a final for us and we must capitalise on the home advantage.”

But for Chibuku Super Cup winners captain Thabani Kamusoko they are motivated by their experienced squad.

“Everyone looks sharp and I think it’s all about concentration and we can win in Kenya. We don’t know anything about Sofapaka but I think everything will be fine. We have players that have experience playing in Africa and I played in Africa before for FC Platinum when we lost to El-Merreikh in Sudan,” Kamusoko was quoted by NewsDay.

Meanwhile, the FKF Premier League kicks off today at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos after yesterday’s match between hosts Kakamega Homeboyz and Posta Rangers was postponed to February 18.

According to Homeboyz Chairman Cleophas Shimanyula, the match has been pushed back to next Wednesday’s on the Postmen’s request.

“We were supposed to play today (Saturday), but Rangers are not ready and have requested that match be rescheduled,” said Shimanyula.
