Oserian impress at home in Women’s Premier League

Nairobi,Kenya:Women’s Premier League side Oserian Ladies picked a maximum of six points from  their weekend fixtures.

In their first match played against new entrants Kilifi-based side Furaha Ladies, Oserian emerged the winners, thrashing the visitors 5-0 in a ome sided  encounter at Oserian Stadium on Saturday. 

Oserian went ahead to win their second match against Moving the Goal Post, another Kilifi-based side, 4-3 on Sunday at the same venue.

In their first match, Josephine Naswa and Susan Akinyi scored a brace each, while Millicent Karani scored one to give the home team the deserved big win.

Oserian took the home ground advantage, attacking from the first whistle with the efforts bearing fruits just three minutes into the match when Akinyi scored the opener.

After 25 minutes of play in the first half, Naswa gave the home team a second goal to make matters 2-0.

Ten minutes later, Karani netted a third goal to give hopes to the new comers in the top league a 3-0 lead.

Naswa added her second goal of the match just five minutes later for a 4-0 lead in favour of the Naivasha-based team.

The teams went to the breather with the home team leading 4-0 but on resumption,  the host intensified attacks with Oserian on target just three minutes of play in the second half, thanks to Akinyi’s strike.

Oserian head coach, Johnson Mukhwana said his team’s good form was a sign of a great season ahead.

“We had prepared well for  this match,” said the tactician. 

He added: “We are back to our winning ways despite   taking part in the top league for the first time. The co-ordination among my players is  working well. I started with one striker but she had a slight injury, so I used three strikers  and this worked very well during the match.

The tactician said they will do their best to win more matches and remain in the  league next season.
