Oil shortage looms as ship delayed 17/04/09

Oil industry insiders are now asking the Ministry of Energy to reverse its ban on private fuel imports to ease frequent shortages. Already, two industry vessels carrying jet fuel have delayed by over a week and a letter seen by KTN indicates that the country may run out of the commodity in coming days. Sources we spoke to say adverse effects of the ban are aggravated by the refinery’s faltering capacity, which leaves the entire country’s fuel needs dependent on the open tender system.
