Terror gang has Lavington residents ill at ease

If a man's home is his castle, it would not be amiss to argue that his neighbourhood should be his kingdom (with shared rights, responsibilities and privileges, of course).

Mr James Aswani, a resident of Lavington West ‘kingdom’ tells PointBlank that life is no longer rosy following rising incidents of insecurity, which the police appear unable — or unwilling — to contain.

"There is a group of armed young men who prowl the streets in either a white Toyota or a Nissan (matatu-like). None of the vehicles has number plates. They primarily target residents on Amboseli Road going up to the Hope Centre Church," James reveals.

Impersonation

The gang’s modus operandi is simple: impersonate police officers, force their victims into the vehicle, brutalise and steal their valuables before dumping them elsewhere. They struck last Thursday, this time targeting employees of a local bar who they robbed and abandoned along Gitanga Road.

Could the police step up patrols in the area and restore security to this ‘kingdom’?
