Poolside

The ultimate poolside trend is the swimsuit cover-up. Cover-up styles can take the shape of sleek tunics, sundresses, long and lean maxi dresses or fun-in-the-sun skirts. Regardless of the style you choose, cover-ups will keep you safe from the sun and give you just enough cover for walking to and from the pool or beach.

Below are some popular swimsuit cover-ups:

Sarongs

Sarongs are probably the most popular cover-ups. Most of us fear exposing the hips, tummy and thighs, and a brightly coloured sarong tied around the waist, covers all of those areas, as well as giving a more graceful silhouette.

Sarongs come in every colour and pattern imaginable, so you can choose to either make a statement with a bold pattern or match the colour of your swimsuit for a classic look.

Tunics

While sarongs have been the go-to cover-up for years, tunics are fast becoming the most fashionable. A tunic is a long, loose-fitting top that ends mid-thigh and is normally made of a lightweight fabric such as cheesecloth or cotton.

Tunics tend to have long sleeves, so they also cover flabby arms and problem areas around the hips and midriff.

Sun dresses

For those of us who prefer to dress it up a little, the sundress is the perfect way to look good while remaining covered up. Sundresses can be strapless, short, ankle-length or any other way you want to wear them. The important thing is that they’re cool, fresh and easy to pull on and off over your bikini.

Shorts and mini skirts

Wear a pair of shorts over your bikini bottoms and you’re ready to shop, eat or go dancing. Add a straw hat and sunglasses for the look of the season.
