Prince Harry and Meghan reveal son's name.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have finally revealed the name for their little boy - Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

The couple's first child, who is happy and healthy, was born at 5.26am on Monday weighing 7lbs 3oz.

In a statement posted on Instagram this afternoon, the couple said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

“This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion.”

Proud mum Meghan, 37, told earlier how her son "has the sweetest temperament, he's really calm."

Hours ago the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed their son to the world for the first time.

Both parents were gushing about their newborn son, with Meghan declaring: "its magic, it's pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I'm really happy."

Afterwards the baby boy, seventh in line to the throne, was introduced to the Queen who will have given consent on the name.

The American former actress gave birth to the overdue 7lb 3oz boy on Monday at 5.26am, minutes before sunrise.

The location of the birth remains a secret.

Asked who the baby takes after, Meghan told reporters: "We're still trying to figure that out."

Harry added: "Everyone says that babies change so much over two weeks. We're basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month really. But his looks are changing every single day, so who knows."

The baby was sleeping soundly, wrapped in a white blanket and wearing a delicate white knitted hat.

Asked how he was finding parenting, Harry said: "It's great. Parenting is amazing.

"It's only been two-and-a-half days, three days, but we're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy."

In a statement posted on Instagram this afternoon, the couple said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

Harry said they were looking forward to spending some "precious times with him as he slowly, slowly starts to grow up."

Meghan said: "We just bumped into the duke as we were walking by, which was so nice.

"So it'll be a nice moment to introduce the baby to more family, and my mum's with us as well."

Harry added: "Another great-grandchild."

Later, asked to show more of their son's face to the cameras, Meghan laughed as Harry joked: "He's already got a little bit of facial hair as well, wonderful."

Meghan added: "Thank you everybody for all the well wishes and kindness, it just means so much."

Harry and Meghan shared pictures of their first photocall with their baby son on the @SussexRoyal Instagram account.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share their first public moment as a family," the post said.

"They are so incredibly grateful for the warm wishes and support they've received from everyone around the world, since welcoming their son two days ago."

The post included one colour shot of the couple walking into St George's Hall, Windsor Castle, with Harry, carrying his son in his arms, and two black and white images of the family during their appearance, taken by Chris Allerton for @SussexRoyal.
