Couple in custody after baby sustains fatal injury during their fight

A couple in Majengo, Kilgoris, is in custody after their 8-year-old daughter sustained injuries during their fight and later lost her life.

According to the DCI, Amos Maengwe, 30, and Esther Kaiseyi, 21, engaged in a domestic scuffle and the former attempted to hit his wife with an object but missed.

He ended up dealing a heavy blow to their 8-year-old daughter and together, they rushed her to hospital.

“The two Esther Kaiseyi, 21 and Amos Maengwe, 30, who were on each other’s throats in the 10pm incident, immediately stopped their fight and together carried their daughter to hospital for medical attention.

“Along the way, they were stopped by police officers on the beat who owing to the condition of the little girl who had a deep cut on her head, rushed them to nearby Kilgoris sub-county hospital to help save the life of the minor. She was in critical condition,” read a tweet by the DCI.

Doctors attended to the girl but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.

The two parents are currently in custody as investigations continue.

Elsewhere, a suspect who jumped from the third floor of an apartment in Embakasi to evade arrest is currently nursing injuries at a city hospital.

Didmus Mong’are jumped from his kitchen balcony at Amani apartments and ended up breaking several of his limbs in his attempt to run away from officers.

The officers he was running from were the first responders who administered first aid to him, before rushing him to hospital for specialized attention.
