The boy was picked up and circumcised by “unknown people” The law requires a minor be circumcised with the parent’s consent

A man from Homa Bay County claims his 10-year-old son was circumcised without his consent.

Oloo Otieno Gor, 31, a resident of Sofia estate in Homa Bay town blames a local NGO and now wants his child’s foreskin “returned.”

Gor, a father of three, told The Nairobian that the organisation’s employees picked his son on the road and disappeared with him for about 12 hours.

He claims that upon returning back home, he noticed his son was in pain and when he questioned him, he confessed he had been circumcised by “unknown people.”

“My son told me that the men lured him with a free ride. They took him to a secluded house where they circumcised him. Why didn’t they seek permission from me? It is unfair and I demand justice,” he told The Nairobian.

Gor said that his son was issued with a card to take to his parents.

“I am very angry. How can they do this to my son?” he fumed.

He reported the matter at Homa Bay Police Station where his case was booked under OB number 49/11/017.

He also took his son to hospital since he was bleeding profusely and the doctors confirmed the boy had undergone circumcision.

“I cannot deny or confirm the case since I have been away from the hospital,” said the hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Meshack Liru

“The law requires that a minor should be circumcised with consent of a parent. Ignoring parents of a minor is an offence,” said Dr Liru.
