Patrick Mwalua, a conservationist based at the Tsavo National Park, sources the water 60 kilometres away, a trip he makes daily to Mtito Andei

A man is burning over Sh200,000 on water to quench the thirst of wild animals. Patrick Mwalua, a conservationist based at the Tsavo National Park, sources the water 60 kilometres away, a trip he makes daily to Mtito Andei.

“They have marked the time I deliver water to them. If I delay, I find them hopelessly waiting for me at the water points, wondering if I will ever show up. I empathise with them,” says the man who is spending Sh248,000 every week to deliver between 24,000litres and 36,000 litres of water every day to the animals.
