I busted police officer in bed with my wife — Butcher

A butcher accused of attempting to stab his wife at night has told court that he busted a police officer in bed with the woman.

The 40-year-old butcher at Nairobi’s popular Burma Market further claimed that he could not identify the officer who was dressed in jungle fatigue, because he escaped through the back door.

Stephen Omondi  has been charged for creating disturbance on February 27 within Makadara area where he’s accused of having chased his wife Rose Adhiambo while armed with a broken bottle as he attempted to stab her.

According to the prosecution, on the material morning around 5am, Adhiambo was in the house with their children when Omondi, who had been away, arrived and knocked on the door in anger. The court heard that Omomdi started throwing stones at the door when Adhiambo delayed in opening it.

Adhiambo is said to have raise the alarm seeking help from neighbours. Police said Omondi left the scene when neighbours responded, but returned hours later armed with a broken bottle in an alleged attempt to harm Adhaimbo, but neighbours disarmed him before police arrived.

In court, Omondi claimed: “My wife has been sleeping with the police officer and I busted her that day. It is painful for another man to sleep in your matrimonial bed”.

Adhiambo told the court, “He is my former husband and he has been giving me sleepless nights. He does not pay school fees for our children and spends all the money he gets feasting on roast meat.”

Omondi was set free on a Sh5,000 bail. His trial was set to be heard on September 12.
