A Vietnam war veteran has been reunited with his severed arm almost half a century since it was amputated.
Nguyen Quang Hung, was shot in the hand by American troops in October 1966, during a battle near the town of An Khe and later evacuated by a US helicopter.
He was then taken to an army hospital where he was treated by American doctor Sam Axelrad and stayed there recovering for eight months.
Dr Axelrad later took the bones home as a reminder that when an enemy soldier was brought to him, he did the right thing and treated him. Dr Axelrad took the infected arm, got rid of the flesh, dried it, took it home and kept it for more than 40 years. He stumbled upon it recently and looked for the veteran and gave him the bones.
