President of the United States Barack Obama is fighting for a second term in the White House, but luckily he's got celebrity star power to call on.

Jay-Z and Beyonce are hosting a lavish fundraising party for the President on Tuesday night in New York at the rapper's 40/40 Club.

While it will be an intimate shindig, it certainly won't be a toned down affair.

According to The New York Post, a ticket for the hottest event of the night is costing a staggering $40,000 (£24,000).

It's not known how many people will be attending. The New York Post claimed that around 100 people will party with the President, while Jay Z hinted on his Twitter page: 'Guest list: Obama plus 40.'

The 40/40 Club has undergone a $10million (£6million) renovation, with the main talking point a bespoke Armand de Brignac Gold Champagne Tower.

The club rep added: 'It’s floor-to-ceiling gold bottles in the entire space. It’s beautiful — breathtaking.'

It's believed it will be Obama's last stop in his New York campaign before November's election, and it's apt that he is spending time with the hip-hop couple.

Last month, he revealed that he's a huge fan of their music, and he regularly listens to them on his iPod.

He also added that he turns to a Beyonce track during his fitness sessions.

He told the hosts of Albuquerque’s KOB-FM: 'I will say right now that if I'm really trying to get my heart rate up, Crazy In Love is a pretty good song to work out to.'

However, while it's sure to be a night to remember for those who are lucky enough to attend, the party has angered his Republican rivals.

New York Republican Party Chairman Ed Cox said in a statement: 'America needs a President more interested in the status of our allies abroad and our unemployed at home than in partying with celebrities: America needs Mitt Romney in the White House.'
