Little-known MOAD Day and Boarding School in Migori county surprised bigger schools in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) after it produced one of the best girls in the county.

Rachel Chinta Misati scored 420 marks to emerge the best girl in Rongo sub county and sixth the county.

The school which enrolled 22 candidates obtained a mean score of 344.18 with three candidates scoring above 400 marks, 15 scoring between 300-399 marks and the last candidate scored 278 marks, a performance that ranked them among the top-performing schools in Migori county.

Speaking to Standard digital on phone, school founder Moses Ng'iela hailed the performance, adding that their aim is to better it next year.

“We are elated about the performance, but believe we will surpass it in the coming years,” he said.

He said his vision has always been to establish a school that can produce excellent performers and he is happy that at long last the results are backing his dream.

“This year’s candidates are our pioneer pupils, most of them joined us in Class Two and have grown with us through the years. We congratulate them for putting the school on the academic map,” said Ng’iela.

Ng’iela attributed the good results to qualified teachers, excellent boarding facilities and ample playing ground which they have provided for the pupils.

MOAD is located in Sare Kamagambo, Rongo sub county and was started in 2013 with a vision to nurture all-rounded learners.
