The Standard Media Group will partner with Kenyatta University (KU) to promote developments such as research that contribute to national growth.

A Memorandum of Understanding signed yesterday committed both institutions to working closely in areas of mutual interest.

The pact was signed by the Standard Group Chief Executive Officer Sam Shollei and KU's acting Vice Chancellor Paul Wainaina.

Senior university management staff were present at the signing of the agreement also aimed at raising the institution's profile.

For the first time, KU will have unparalleled access to all Standard Group media platforms for its scholars to offer analyses on various issues of national importance.

Media students at the university will also get opportunities for internships and mentorship.

"We shall implement this agreement and all shall be well on both sides," said Prof Wainaina.

Mr Shollei said the university's media outlets – KU TV and KU FM radio – will ride on the Standard Group media platforms to lift their profiles.

"We shall train media students and allow some of them have access to our facilities to ensure talent growth," said Shollei, adding that the university's research efforts would also be highlighted.

"We shall publicise your academic research works in all areas that include finance, medicine and agriculture, and use our platform to educate Kenyans," said Shollei.
