KCA University has launched a programme to help youth transform their ideas into businesses.

The “25 under 25” project will also help youths grow their businesses.

And in a bid to promote the programme, the university entered into a partnership with the Standard Group.

KCA Vice Chancellor Noah Midamba said the university was focused on nurturing individuals able to create jobs for others rather than those seeking employment.

He was speaking at Standard Group headquarters in Nairobi when he met the group’s Chief Executive officer Sam Shollei.

The university has also signed deals with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the national government and county governments to create innovation centres throughout the country targeting small-scale business people.

Mr Shollei said it was important to have an educated country. He assured KCA of the company’s dedication and continued engagement.

“We want to walk close with people who are talking about transformation, and we will ensure the university is visible and its achievements are seen across the country,” said Shollei.

The university, which started as an accountancy college 25 years ago, now has 16,000 students.

Prof Midamba said politicians should focus on building and strengthening the economy in order to create opportunities for all through stable leadership.

“We have worked hard to reach where we are, being the largest economy in East Africa and having vibrant and creative young generation graduating at the universities,” he said.

“We have to create an economy that provides an opportunity for these people by creating stable leadership which has to come from the Executive and Legislature,” the VC added.
