KNEC top officials to record statements over exam irregularities

Education CS Fred Matiang’i on Thursday dissolved the current KNEC board appointing Former University of Nairobi VC Prof George Magoha as new board chair.

The CS also recommended arrests of senior KNEC staff including CEO Dr. Joseph Kivilu and eight others to record statements over 2015 KCSE exam irregularities.

The year 2015 recorded the highest number of irregularities with the results of more than five thousand KCSE candidates cancelled due to irregularities. This was an increase from 2,975 candidates in 2014.

All 47 counties had at least irregularities apart from Isiolo County which got the honours for being the only county with a clean record.

The other eight members to record the statement are; Senior Deputy secretary( Examinations) Ambia G. Noor, Deputy Secretary (Security) Maundu Mantenzawa, Prinicipal Examination secretary Thomas Mckenzie, Senior Deputy secretary (Reprogphics) Sarah Majani, Senior deputy secretary Bobby Nyaga and Senior Deputy secretary  Geoffrey Gitigo. Others are Principal Supply chain Michael Ndua, Principal Supply chain management and Deputy secretary Richard Mwangangi.
