A 22-year-old man alleged to have murdered his 64-year-old lover in Nanyuki town will spend another week in custody.

The ruling was made to allow the police get a psychiatric report.

Anthony Kiplagat was arraigned before a Nanyuki court yesterday but was not allowed to take plea. The prosecutor applied to hold the accused for more time, as he had not received the report from a Government hospital.

High Court Judge Mary Kasango granted the application and ruled that Mr Kiplagat be remanded until next Wednesday when the report is expected to be ready.

Priscillah Waithera, a Nanyuki-based trader was found dead on the night of February 27, this year.

Kiplagat was last week arraigned before Principal Magistrate Waititu Gichimu alongside Beth Wanjiru Maina, but the investigating officer, Reuben Kiptoo, applied for one week to carry out investigations.

He also requested that the suspects be taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital for psychiatric assessment and a blood sample test.

Ms Wanjiru told the court she met Kiplagat about two years ago but he went missing until the Sunday he reappeared.
