Youth affairs assistant minister’s father injured in attack

Armed gangsters raided the home of the father to Youth Affairs Assistant Minister Wavinya Ndeti, seriously injuring him at his Athi River town residence.

Peter Nzuki, 98, was shot on the leg while his grandson suffered leg and hand gunshot wounds in the 1.30am incident yesterday.

Athi River OCPD Kirinya confirmed the incident, saying a probe into the matter had been launched.By the time of going to Press, the OCPD and other top security officials were held up in a security meeting following the attack.

Both Mr Ndeti and his injured grandson were rushed to Mater Hospital where they are recuperating. According to Wavinya, the gangsters gained entry into her father’s house by shooting the main door open.

She narrated that the gangsters went straight to her father’s bedroom where they shot him on his leg before turning to his grandson. On receiving the news, Education Minister Mutula Kilonzo condemned the attackers and called for speedy investigation.

The minister urged the Government to beef up security, especially for those vying for elective posts. The Kathiani MP said she read politics in her father’s attack.
