Police in Naivasha are looking for the driver of a car that hit and killed a middle-aged man near the Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI).

The pedestrian, who was identified as Samson Kimani, was walking along the road at around 8p.m. when he was hit by the speeding car.

The car went towards the Nairobi-Nakuru highway leaving some debris, which police are using in their investigations. Motorcycle operators tried in vain to chase it.

A witness, Samson Kimani, said the car driven at high speed, veered off the road and hit the deceased, who was walking alone.

“The car did not stop on impact, and by the time police came in, the victim had died, but there were some vehicle parts left behind,” he said.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Naivasha Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where an inquest file has been opened.
