A Form Four student at a school in Nyamira died after he was allegedly assaulted by his parents after allegations of stealing his brother's Sh50.

Nyamira South Director of Criminal Investigations boss Paul Makonge said the deceased was a student at Kiang'inda Secondary School.

He succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Police reports indicated that the boy suffered severe injuries after he was allegedly beaten up by members of his family.

"The deceased was beaten thoroughly, he could not even walk. The family hid him in their house without any medication until Thursday morning when they took him to a nearby private hospital. He was pronounced dead moments after he arrived," Mr Makonge said.

The deceased is said to have been attacked on Saturday, June 17.

According to the DCI, the deceased was suspected of having stolen Sh50 belonging to his elder brother. It was after he was pressed to state whether or not he had stolen the money that a fight erupted between the two brothers. The fight attracted their parents who reportedly joined in beating up their younger son.

The father, mother and brother have already been arrested and will be arraigned soon, according to the police.

Mr Makonge confirmed that the suspects will be presented before the High Court in Nyamira where they are expected to answer to charges of murder.

The body of the deceased was taken to Kinara Hospital Mortuary where a post-mortem is expected to be conducted.
