The Anti-Corruption Court in Nairobi has ordered Evans Nyaoga Rambeka, an administrator at the Kisii County Government, to refund the State Sh3.16 million he received as salary and allowances for 38 months.

The court ruled that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) had proved that Rambeka got employment as an administrator in Masige West Ward using forged academic certificates.

He worked at Masige between 2014 and 2015.

Justice Esther Maina found that Rambeka forged a certificate and a diploma in Human Resource Management from the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM).

"A declaration is hereby issued that the defendant's employment as a ward administrator by the Kisii County Government was fraudulent, illegal and void as it was secured using forged and altered documents," ruled Justice Maina.

Rambeka was, consequently, found guilty of breaching Section 319 of Kenya's Penal Code.

"The accused is hereby ordered to make payment of the sum of Sh3,162,452.90 fraudulently obtained as salaries and allowances in the course of his illegal employment," added the judge.
