Property of unknown value was on Wednesday destroyed at the Kisii Agricultural Training Center (KATC) after a rowdy group stormed the IEBC’s meeting with county candidates.

Officials of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) were meeting governor, woman representative and senate seat candidates at 10am, when the hundreds of rowdy youth stormed the venue in Kisii Town.

The group arrived one hour into the meeting, disrupting the session, causing damage and inflicting injuries.

A police officer was injured during the chaos that resulted in the damage of a police van and a private vehicle.

Window panes of buildings at the Kisii Agricultural Training Center were also shattered.

The rowdy group also brought down the wire fence that surrounds the institution.

The group was demanding the transfer of an IEBC returning officer, accusing him of biasness.

Police were forced to hurl teargas to disperse the crowd.

A relative calm resumed after nearly one hour of running battles.
