Two workers at Embu Level Five Hospital have been arrested in connection with the theft of Sh500,000 theatre equipment.

Embu County Police Commandant Daniel Rukunga yesterday said one of the suspects was a nurse, while the other's designation was unknown.

He noted that so far nine people had recorded statements as part of investigations.

“The two suspects will be arraigned any time this week when we finish investigations,” said Mr Rukunga.

He noted that a television set, which was among the stolen items, was recovered from one of the suspects' house.

Embu County Executive Committee Member for Health Joan Mwende said also stolen was the Ear, Nose and Throat theatre machine.

Dr Mwende assured the public that the theft had not disrupted services at the hospital.

Health Committee Chairman Muturi Mwombo condemned the theft and said the life-saving equipment was bought using taxpayers' money.
