Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo will plead to Sh50 million land fraud charges on Monday.

Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi postponed the case yesterday, saying he needed to study two applications filed before him and another at the Supreme Court.

The former MP is expected to plead to charges of obtaining execution of security by false pretence, making a document without authority, uttering a false document and giving fabricated information to a person employed in the public service.

Jirongo is also accused of giving false information linking the late Jonathan Moi to the dispute.

He allegedly committed the offences between 1992 and 2015.

The former MP has filed an application at the Supreme Court, seeking to stop his prosecution and to overturn a judgement from the Court of Appeal that ordered he takes plea.

Jirongo is accused of inducing Post Bank Credit Ltd to accept bank charges on September 25, 1992, for a land registered in the name of Soy Developers Ltd.
