Is Siaya Senator Orengo justified in push to have DP Ruto impeached?

Senator James Orengo has every right to seek the impeachment of Deputy President William Ruto. People should not castigate him because there are steps for removal of the Deputy President that need to be followed first, before the process of kicking him out of office by Parliament starts.

I have to state, however, that I have little faith in whether the process to have Ruto removed will succeed. If Orengo asked for my opinion, I would tell him that the time and strategy he plans to employ were not right.

The best way to deal with Ruto is in General Election. Let Kenyans vote him out when he attempts to run for presidency in 2022, as he has declared. Another way would be to use non-political means to send him home.

I suggest that apolitical institutions such as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) be left to conduct their probe against corrupt individuals. If at all the Deputy President is found to be corrupt by the authorities and arraigned, then this will be sufficient grounds for a Motion of no confidence in him to be brought up.

I have heard our colleagues who are close to Ruto claim that we in ODM are causing a rift in Jubilee. Nothing can be further from the truth. Our working relationship with the Government of President Uhuru Kenyatta is there to stay. We are not backing out.
