Assistant chief in Kisumu rapes a class eight pupil

The assistant chief of Ang'oga Sub-location in Kisumu County, Caleb Oyende, will on April 17 face Maseno Magistrate Court to respond to allegations that he raped a class eight pupil in his area last week.

Cynthia (not the name of the child) complained that Mr. Oyende gave her fifty shillings to take to her father after which he trailed behind her and grabbed her near a bush then forced her into the act.

Mr. Oyende has ever since sternly denied the allegations saying they are a witch hunt against him. When Cynthia was, however, taken for diagnosis at Kombewa District Hospital on Saturday to confirm the misfortune, the lab tests proved that she had indeed been defiled.

Mr. Oyende who is awaiting office inauguration after emerging victorious in an interview for South West Seme location chief is now on the verge of a serious ruin over his reputation. If found guilty of the offense, Mr. Oyende will not only lose his new found job but also face a jail term of not less than twenty years.

The former chief of the location, Michael Odhiambo, was also found guilty of a similar offense two months ago and is now serving a twenty-year jail term at Maseno Prison. This is what opened a vacancy in the office of the location's chief, a post that Mr. Oyende was lucky to secure.
