Even though basic necessities (food, shelter) are hard to get in the war-torn nation, they have proven to the football world that it not all negativity.

Going by the rankings released yesterday by world football governing body-FIFA, South Sudan, has appalled many by emerging the biggest mover by points. The land-locked country has collected a total of 31 points, thanks to a pair of wins against Somalia twice in the month April.

Confederation of African Football Chair Ahmed Ahmed’s country also was April’s biggest mover in terms of ranks, climbing nine spots to sit 113 globally.

With rather a quiet month with little international football action, only seven matches under the FIFA calendar were played meaningless changes to the overall rankings.

Kenya has stagnated at 78th position and 16th best in Africa. Brazil is still the world leader while Egypt holds the number one spot in Africa.
