Young girls and women between the age of 15 -24 years from all parts of this country are having abortions and are having it for the same reasons. Some of the reasons include: need to continue with their education, being unable to raise the child, need to care for existing children, not in stable relationships and pregnancy being too close to previous birth.
Abortion is not permitted in Kenya unless, in the opinion of a trained health professional, there is need for emergency treatment, or the life or health of the mother is in danger, or if permitted by any other written law.
