Exam cheating can be stopped.

Kenya is known worldwide for its technological advancements. These advancements have been applied successfully in many government and private sectors. Many government councils like The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) is undertaking its activities such as candidate examination registration.

It is clear from the rampant exam cheating all over the country that to some extent, we need to take more measures to bring this vice down. If this trend continues, we risk coming to terms with the wrong professionals in the future. The blame game arose when the real examination papers were found circulating everywhere, especially in main social media platforms. Top KNEC officials were to blame on the compromise in distribution of exam papers at county level, where it is rumored the papers were opened. If this is the issue, can't we turn to technology to aid in distribution? Yes, that is very possible. I am sure that there is technology that is 100% secure. I’m not saying that we shift to using drones the same way China went in June this year because it sounds too expensive for Kenya. I’m proposing that exams be posted online on the examination day via an online platform. This may involve having the KNEC IT experts creating a page in their website that would only contain the exam questions. Every paper should have its specific platform and access password. The passwords would be only disclosed to a few senior officials at the distribution centers. Other examination materials such as answering sheets will be dispatched earlier. On the examination day, the online platform for the specific subjects supposed to be done on that day is made accessible to the a few officials who can then download the question papers. The papers are then taken to the examination centers under close supervision.
