New British High Commissioner to Kenya announced

The UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) today announced the appointment of Mr Nic Hailey as the new British High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya.

Mr Hailey will succeed the current High Commissioner, Dr Christian Turner CMG, in December 2015. Dr Turner will remain in Post until this time, after which he will be transferring to another UK Diplomatic Service appointment.

 The incoming High Commissioner Mr Hailey is currently the FCO Director for Africa, a position he has held since 2013.In this, he is the UK Government’s Top Official in the region. Prior to this he held postings in Kabul, Washington, Paris and Berlin. He will be joined in Nairobi by his wife and two daughters.

 On his appointment, Mr Hailey said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as British High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya. I look forward to arriving in Kenya as our historic partnership reaches a new level, based on shared interests, trust and mutual respect.”
