Nyandarua, Kenya: A row over a piece of land turned tragic when a 45-year-old man was hacked to death by his cousins in Kipipiri, Nyandarua county Friday.

Joseph Kinuthia Gatheca was arguing with his two cousins over who should own the half acre piece of land left by his father when a heated debate ensued. When Kinuthia insisted that he was the one to get the land his two cousins engaged him in a fight.

According to Kipipiri OCPD Murkomen Chebet, one of the cousins picked a panga and threatened the deceased with it if he did not surrender the tittle deed. The argued  for a while before the cousin made good of his threat.

Upon realizing what they had done, Chebet said that they escaped to avoid being attacked by the members of the public who had arrived at the scene.

The neighbours rushed Mr. Kinuthia to JM Memorial hospital in Ol Kalou where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The OCPD said that the police have launched a manhunt for the two cousins who are still at large.
