KCB Kisumu Rally 2013 gets underway in Kisumu County this Saturday.

The Equator Motor Club (EMC)-organised rally counts towards the sixth round of the KCB Kenya National Rally Championship (KNRC) for Division One, Two and Three as well as Classic Car Cup, Two Wheel Drive and S/SPV Championships.

Division One comprises of the top 10 fastest drivers in the KNRC category based on their WAT-SPOT Seeding for the preceeding year, while Division 2 has the next 10 fastest drivers and Division 3 the rest of the drivers entered in the KNRC.

Clerk of the Course, Surinder Sudle expressed optimism following a quick route check on Saturday just to ensure that nothing unexpected happens on the race-day.

“It’s an interesting route with twisted and fast stretches. Rains have been pounding the region for some time but that should not worry crews as the roads are all weather,” said Sudle.

Sudle said the event will be 285.90 kilometers and a competitive 151.35 kilometers which is anticipated to put drivers and navigators’ skills to an ultimate test.

A liaison distance of 151.35 kilometers- which is equivalent to 47.06 percent of the mileage percentage- has been factored in the event itinerary.

The longest stage is 26 kilometers while the shortest is 13.96 kilometers.

The rally will be flagged-off from KCB main branch situated on Jomo  Kenyatta Highway in Kisumu at 7.00am with the podium ceremony will take place at 4.00pm onwards at Kibos Sugar Premises in Chemase.
