Trader again links Ahmednasir Abdullahi to National Cereals and Produce Board scam

Kenya: A member of Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has been adversely mentioned in connection with the scandal that has brought National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) to its knees.

Senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi was on the spot once again for allegedly using his position at JSC to influence the outcome of court cases.

Brian Yongo, the managing director of Neptune Credit Management Ltd- a debt collection company, told the Parliamentary Investment Committee the lawyer is a business associate of a director of a firm seeking to auction NCPB assets.

Yongo told the committee yesterday that Jacob Juma, a director at Erad Ltd, uses Abdullahi to influence cases.

“Juma uses court proceedings to fleece the Government. I am the one who introduced him to Ahmednasir,” he pointed out.

Wipe out

Erad is seeking to auction NCPB assets to recover a controversial Sh500 million debt that threatens to wipe out the strategic national grain reserve.

Yongo appeared before the committee after former Agriculture PS Romano Kiome told the team last week that the Neptune director had written to them and anti-graft body asking that Juma be investigated for corruption.

Kiome read to the committee the contents of the letter written by Yongo.

The letter further named Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo, Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia and former Treasury PS Joseph Kinyua. Yesterday, Yongo tabled documents to show that Juma has been involved in several fraud cases.

He said some of the matters are before the Director of Public Prosecutions office awaiting action.

He named a case involving Juma and an Asian businessman, who he allegedly tried to con 18 acres of land in Kabete, Nairobi.
