Mombasa, Kenya: Police have said unknown people broke into the office of Cortec Mining Kenya Director Jacob Juma’s lawyer and stole three laptop computers on Tuesday night.

Police in Gigiri said the computers worth Sh240,000 were stolen from  Havi Advocate firm at Ojijo Plaza along Ojijo Road Wednesday when suspected burglars entered the premises through a toilet window.

Gigiri Police chief Vitalis Otieno Wednesday confirmed the incident, saying investigations had been launched into the alleged burglary.

“These people gained entry into the office after breaking the toilet window and stole three laptops,” said Otieno.

Probe underway

Otieno said the law firm’s workers allegedly discovered the office had been broken into Wednesday morning when they reported for duty.

“We have not recovered anything but investigations into the incident have began to establish what happened,” said Otieno.

He said the incident was reported at Parkland Police Station by a lawyer according to Occurrence Book OB number 07/14/8/2013.

Wednesday, Juma claimed that the incident had stalled the lawyer’s plan to file a suit against the Government over the cancellation of the license.
