Balala launches party, seeks coalition

Mvita MP Najib Balala has launched the Republican Congress party to fight for the marginalised communities.

The party popularly known as RP is his vehicle for the March 4 General Election.

Balala claimed his political party support the Mombasa Republican Council that has engaged the Government over marginalisation of communities in the region.

He, however, warned that his political party does not support the demand to secede from the country.

“The RP support the ideas of the MRC, but want to make it clear, we do not want to call to secede as demanded by them,” he said.

He said his political party stands firm on the demands by the MRC in a peaceful way instead of secession.

During the launch, two former MPs, Mohamed Jahazi (Mvita) and Kassim Mwavumo (Likoni) called for peaceful campaigns.

Jahazi claimed the massacre in Tana River and youth arrest in Kilifi were scary and claims of taking oath was shocking.  “We shall only listen to you is you speak peace, we are not going to listen to people calling for violence,” he said.
