Five years jail term for man linked to motor vehicles theft and spare parts

A man who admitted to the charge of motor vehicle theft has been jailed for five years without the option of a fine.

Samwel Muthii Kariuki, alias Simon Kariuki, was arraigned before Kiambu Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Ooko on Friday last week.

The charge stated that between September 24, 2023, and September 28, 2023, he stole motor vehicle spare parts worth Sh88,500 belonging to Kennedy Kihara Muito.

A police report indicated that Kariuki had been conning unsuspecting Kenyans by pretending to be an online taxi driver.

The report added that after convincing his targets and winning their trust, he would steal and vandalize their motor vehicles.
