Police officer, taxi driver shot dead in Ruaka botched robbery incident

A police officer and a taxi driver were on Friday night shot dead during a botched robbery in Ruaka, Kiambu county. 

Police acted swiftly after being informed of an impending robbery at one of the buildings in Ruaka estate rented by Nigerian and intercepted the armed gang before attacking their would-be targets.

According to the police report, the thugs had gained entry into the compound, before officers who had lay ambush ordered them to surrender but they refused and shot at the officers prompting a shootout.   

During the shootout, officers managed to gun down two robbers, one of them being an officer while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The bodies were identified as taxi driver Hussein Galgalo and corporal Daniel Etiang (Service No 236975)

Also recovered from them was one Jericho pistol loaded with 10 bullets and a vehicle used by the gang.

The bodies were moved to Kihara Level Four Hospital.
