Unilever to plant one million trees this year

Unilever Tea Kenya intends to plant one million indigenous trees in Kenya by the end of this year. Speaking during a tree planting ceremony at the Nairobi River Basin yesterday, Corporate Affairs Director, Francis Kip-Utich Kaptich, said the Kericho-based tea firm intends to plant more trees in their property, Egerton University, Kericho Municipality and in various schools within south Rift region. The project, dubbed Trees 2000 Programme, is in-line with Unilever’s sustainable agriculture principles. He called on Kenyans to conserve the environment .

"A small action in conservation that makes a big difference in the long run. We all have a role to play," he added.
