Bill Gates joins Jeff Bezos in 'centibillionaires club' as net worth hits USD100 billion

Bill Gates

Bill Gates has joined Jeff Bezos in one of the most exclusives ‘clubs’ in the world - the centibillionaires club.

As the name suggests, the club is exclusively for people with net worths higher than USD100 billion; something that Bill Gates has achieved this week, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.

While this is an unimaginable amount for most of us, Gates is actually trailing behind Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Bezos is currently worth a staggering USD148 billion (Sh14.91 trillion).

The third-richest person in the world is Bernard Arnault, a French business magnate and art collector, who is worth USD86.2 billion (Sh8.6 billion).

However, it’s unlikely that Gates will stay in the centibillionaires club for long.

The Microsoft founder regularly donates to charity, and has previously donated more than $30 billion to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
