IEBC yet to pay 360,000 staff, 10 days after poll

NAIROBI, KENYA: Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is yet to pay 360,000 staff in the August 2017 general elections.

The electoral body however on Thursday asked the officials to be patient as it was finalising the payment process

“The 360,000 poll officials will receive their dues on or before 25th August 2017. Bear with us as we process,” IEBC tweeted.

Kenyans went to the polls on August 8 to elect new leaders from president, governors, senators, women representatives, Members of Parliament and members of county assemblies.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been declared t winner and the results have been contested by NASA Coalition which has promised to lodge a petition at the Supreme Court.
