Govt Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna tests positive for Coronavirus

Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has tested positive for Coronavirus.

Through a statement to newsrooms, Oguna said he recently developed mild symptoms after an assignment out of town and he later tested positive.

He, however, stated that he is responding well to treatment and is currently is self-isolation.

“Recently, having come from an assignment out of town, I developed mild coronavirus related symptoms and got tested.

“The results came back positive for Coronavirus and I am now receiving medical care and responding well to treatment at an isolation and treatment facility.

“I urge all Kenyans to take this disease seriously and take all the necessary precautions to avoid getting infected,” read a statement to newsrooms.

Earlier this week, Health CAS Rashid Aman lauded Kenyan celebrities who have come out publicly to pronounce their COVID-19 status.

Speaking during the daily COVID-19 briefings at Afya House, Nairobi, CAS Aman encouraged more people to come out as it’s one way to destigmatize the disease.

“Media personalities as I have read in the papers, I think it’s a positive thing when people in high office or who are celebrities or in media, come out and pronounce their status.

“That is one way to destigmatize the disease,” said CAS Aman.
