Stop the drama — Murkomen tells DCI Kinoti

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Thursday told DCI boss George Kinoti to ‘stop the drama’ and give concrete answers regarding who killed Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei.

Through a series of hard-hitting tweets, the Senate Majority leader put the DCI on the spot over the CCTV footage that implicated former Sports CS Rashid Echesa in the fire arms scandal.

Murkomen poked holes into the footage that was shared saying it showed nothing that added value towards finding Kenei’s killers.

“DCI spent the afternoon discussing Harambee Annex and shared nothing concerning the scene where Kenei was killed? Where are the pictures of the scene taken by DCI officers?

“Why was the body moved by DCI officers and later returned to the house? Mr.DCI stop the drama and tell us who killed Kenei,” probed Murkomen.

The senator demanded openness in the investigations and accused the DCI of cover-up.

Further, he asked Kinoti to reveal the identities of the two foreigners who were seen with Echesa in the footage, asking why they are yet to be arrested.

“We want justice for Kenei. We want the truth. DCI must stop coverup. Who are the 2 foreigners that accompanied Echesa?

“Are they mercenaries for hire? What is their mission in Kenya & DP office? Why aren’t they arrested? Who was communicating with Kenei (Safaricom data must be there)” he asked.

Adding: Kenyans want to know the truth.

Kenei was found murdered at his house in Imara Daima estate on February 19, 2020, and despite earlier reports that he committed suicide, Kinoti confidently stated that it was homicide due to various inconsistencies at the scene of crime.
