Kenyans react to Kenya Pipeline re-advertisement of Managing Director's post

Kenyans on twitter were on Tuesday quick to notice the re-advertisement of a vacant post for the office of the Managing Director at the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) and could not hold back their thoughts.Through the hashtag #DrainKenyaPipeline, many questioned the move arguing that those who showed interest the first time should have been given an opportunity.This came after the pipeline company stated that many of the applicants failed to meet their minimum requirements and those who were qualified did not reach the maximum number to move to the next step.“On the scrutiny of the applications, the board did not find an adequate number of qualified candidates to proceed to the next stage of interviews. This is to notify all qualified candidates that the board wishes to re-advertise the position of KPC managing director.”This did not rest well with Kenyans on twitter since the country has professionals who are qualified for the position and many expressed their opinions on why no one got the job after the first application.Some speculated that the pipeline company could have been looted to the ground and had little hope of revival.Others stated that the position might have been reserved for certain individuals or it could be a plot by those tasked with the responsibility of recruiting a new director to slow the process for more allowances.The vacancy arose when its previous occupant Joe Sang was arrested, arraigned in court and charged with abuse of office and failing to comply with procedures relating to the management of public funds.KPC was however not specific on what qualifications the applicants failed to meet and those who qualified could not meet the required number hence re-advertisement.
