Office of Governor Obado speaks out after abduction and death of varsity student

Migori County communications boss Nicholas Anyuor has dismissed claims that Migori Governor Okoth Obado is linked to the abduction of second year student Sharon Otieno and NMG reporter Barrack Oduor.

Anyuor says the allegations are meant to taint the Governor’s reputation and asked the media not to associate him with the incident that led to Sharon’s death.

He further urged that the police should be allowed to do the investigations without being interrupted.

The allegations came after the Governor’s Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo was arrested in relation to the incident.

Sharon was reported missing on Monday evening 3 August.

Speaking to Nation, Sharon’s father Douglas Otieno confirmed his daughter’s body at the Oyugis Level Four Hospital in Oyugis.

Medical reports also show that the student was pregnant.

Both Sharon and Oduor were kidnapped after they were lured out of Graca Hotel in Rongo.

The journalist was seriously injured after he jumped out of the speeding vehicle to escape from the kidnappers.
