How lottery companies pick winners questionable

When I was in school, every Friday was a charity sweepstakes draw, usually at around 5.00pm to 6.00 pm.

These draws were made public and everyone could see how the balls were rolled and the winners picked.

I used to participate because my father used to buy numerous tickets and my duty was to check if he won.

We miss those draws because the competitions were transparent and all winners won fair and square.

Nowadays we have many companies which have come up with sweepstakes and they are giving away lots of money in millions but how they pick winners is everyone’s guess.

We see winners saying they got calls that they had won but how were they picked? The draws are not made public and the betting control board is asleep.

Let the betting control board do the duties they are assigned by protecting Kenyans who gamble. This is because the cost of gambling is very high and several Kenyans are gamblers and are sleeping hungry.

They are ready to part with Sh200 per day but not buy food to eat. Also many students and adults are betting on the internet consuming a lot of their time and money.

This is unnecessary for Kenya. Many Kenyans want to be rich quickly. Also almost all radio stations have been sucked in this gambling vortex and they urge listeners to bet.

This is crazy! Let Kenyans be protected. Draws must be made in the open and be done in the presence of betting control members. Let the betting boards come clean with these competitions or they step aside. Kenya ‘haitaendelea’!
