We’ll arrest CBD crime with 74 CCTV cameras, says Kidero

Businesses around the CBD will now run without fear of attacks from thugs once the installation of CCTV cameras is completed.

According to Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, the council will install 74 cameras to help curb crime in the CBD.

“The cameras will have their control rooms at the City Hall and Central police station to allow smooth coordination,” Kidero said during the week.

“We will also purchase more vehicles for the police to intensify their patrols in the city to wipe out criminals.”

The plan comes amid several reported robbery cases targeting money transfer agents, chemists and fashion stores.

“We hope the plan will bear fruits in curbing insecurity and allow us operate even 24 hours as promised by government,” Ben Kamau, an M-pesa agent in the CBD told The Nairobian.
