Warthog kills flower farm worker in Naivasha

NAIVASHA, KENYA: A flower farm worker was gored to death by a warthog in a bizarre incident in Naivasha after both fell in a pit latrine.
The worker in his late 40s and from Beutyline farm was chasing the wild animal from the farm when they both accidentally fell in the abandoned pit latrine.
Cornered animal turned against the screaming worker inside the pit latrine goring him to death as fellow workers sought ways of saving his life.
Guards from a nearby farm had to be called in to shoot the animal before the rescuers could access the worker during the midday incident in the farm located along the Moi North Lake road.
The secretary general Kenya Plantations and Agricultural Workers Union (KPAWU) Naivasha branch Ferdinand Juma confirmed the death terming it as shocking.
Juma who visited the scene said that the man was found lying in a pool of blood inside the pit after the attack by the animal.
"The warthog using its long teeth attacked the flower farm worker who bled to death before fellow workers could come to his rescue," said the unionist.
