Sarova Panafric's Sh1 billion refurbishment to be complete by 2020

Nairobi's iconic hotel, Sarova Panafric which is undergoing phased refurbishment will have a complete new face by 2020.

In an interview with Standard, Sarova Group of Hotels Resorts and Lodges Managing Director, Jimi Kariuki said that they have already kick started the refurbishment works, part of the chain's redevelopment programme at a cost of Sh1 billion.

''This will see the repositioning of the hotel into an elegant and luxurious property with newly redesigned guest bedrooms, new health club and a spa and a newly designed dining and entertainment experience,'' he said.

The MD added that at Sarova Group, they continue to be very optimistic about the tourism and hospitality industry.

''We will continue to invest in all our existing products as well as develop new ones. We salute the government for its continued prioritisation of tourism which supports our continued confidence in the sector,'' he said.

Kariuki at the same time said that they are looking at new opportunities for business growth both in Kenya and outside the country.

''We have been in existance for over four decades and were are open for both ownership and management opportunities. In the last two years for example, we have taken into our brand portfolio, we have added the now popular Sarova Woodlands in Nakuru and Spirit of the Maasai Mara,a Sarova hotel signature collection brand, '' the MD said.

Other unit within the Sarova Group brands that have been fully upgrade include its flagship hotel at the Coast, the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort and Spa with ongoing work at its Makutano Convention Centre is ongoing.
