Muthama, Ongwae among eight shortlisted for PSC jobs

Former Governor James Ongwae and former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama have been shortlisted for the PSC jobs.

Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama is among the candidates shortlisted for the position of a male member of the Parliamentary Service Commission.

Muthama, who is the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) chairperson, seems to have prophesied his nomination in early October when he said he was going to get something soon after he was left out of President William Ruto's Cabinet.

Muthama then made it clear that his support for President Ruto was not in exchange for a Cabinet post and was not worried about having been excluded.

He then said he was up for a role of "coordinating things as a midfielder in a football match".

Former Kisii Governor James Ongwae is also among those shortlisted for the position.

Others include former MPs Peter Mwathi (Limuru), Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini), Cornelly Serem (Aldai) and David Were; former Kwale County Assembly Speaker Sammy Ruwa; and Aruma John Ekale.

Clerk of the Senate Jeremiah Nyegenye said interviews will be conducted on December 30, 2022, starting 9.30am.

Members of the public have been invited to provide in writing any information of interest concerning the suitability of any shortlisted candidates.

"The interviews shall be conducted at the Mini Chamber, First Floor, County Hall, Parliament Buildings, Nairobi," reads an advertisement in the dailies.

A total of 171 applicants had shown interest in the position and only eight were shortlisted.
